What is it with spam and Wordpress? It just keeps coming and coming….why so much spam-love for Wordpress? This certainly didn’t happen when I was with Blogger till a few months ago.
Yesterday, the number of spam comments on this blog passed the number of genuine comments and trackbacks, and this is how it looked:

Not good.

Some of my fellow bloggers have noticed an errant website posting full content feeds of certain blogs. In the past couple of hours more than a dozen posts from this blog have been posted.
In order to discourage this, and while other resources are mobilized, I will disable full feed content for the time being. Instead, a 75 word “summary feed” will be published. I opologize for the inconvenience that this may cause to my regular readers.
If any of you, who are reading this, have faced a similar situation before…I would be interested in knowing what countermeasures you took.

I tried to change a few things in my previous Urban Giraffe theme and it just wouldn’t come out right. Finally I gave up and decided to switch to a different template. After a few hours of searching and reading reviews, I have (for now) chosen the TripleK2 theme by John TP. Let me know if you like this one better than the old Giraffe. I will be glad if you guys could voice your concern over anything in particular that you don’t like about this new theme.
The immediate reason for the shift was that the Giraffe template was messing up a few things in Internet Explorer (expecially the post titles); and here is a distribution of readers on my blog showing a large number of IE users:
So got to do it for the IE users :).
The most obvious drawback is that this theme is not “fluid”, so if you are using 800 x 600 screen resolution, you will have to scroll to get all of it. But, according to sitemeter statistics, less than 2% of my visitors are using that screen resolution…hopefully they won’t mind the change so much.

I love discovering new things while messing with this blog. I think that’s one of the main reasons that drove me away from Blogger…after a while there was nothing to mess around with.
So here is something I added to this blog last night; a page titled “Hot Stuff From Top Blogs“. You can locate it on the navigation bar just below the title. Click it. Click it.

It’s like my own customized “pfblogs.org” niche. Kewl. Right now it’s experimental, so I have not added all the blogs I read regularly (which is almost all blogs in my blogroll btw).
This in no way replaces my compulsive “need” to visit pfblogs.org every few hours or the functionality of pfblogs.org, but it does a good job of quickly taking me through the blogs I want to read the most.
For interested Wordpress users, I am using this plugin: BDP RSS Aggregator

I am trying to update a few images in some of my previous posts and it’s becoming complicated. In blogger, I just had to select the image from a browser and choose small/medium/large thumbnail and that would be it !
Now here, there is no such option of small/medium/large thumbnail…all images default to to a tiny 128×96 size ! …or you can choose them to be displayed as original size. Now, I don’t want either of those…I want something that will auto-resize to some reasonable size on my post. I have tried a few plugins, but none of them are giving me what I want. One of them (ImageManager) was better and allows me to increase the size of my thumbnails, but does that by compromising on the resolution! Recommendations anyone, on a easy-to-use image manager?

Just checking how this goes. It is sure not as simple as blogger
