Current Sharebuilder $50 Bonus Promo Codes And Other *Free* Offers

by golbguru on April 9, 2007

Here are two Sharebuilder promo codes, for a $50 bonus, that seemed to be active when I checked yesterday:

  • share50

While I was browsing around the Sharebuilder website, during my attempts to find/verify promo codes, I also found other offers that may interest some of you. For example, here is an offer for a $49.95 “Premium Investor Start Kit“. What comes with the kit essentially makes it free:

sharebuilder product offers

The $50 account bonus will in itself pay for the cost of the product. That makes the rest of the goodies free.

There are other versions of the “Investor Starter Kit”, and all of them include an account bonus worth the cost of the product…so basically you can choose any of them and still get some free stuff.

I haven’t made up my mind about getting one of these kits, but the *premium* kit offer looks attractive to me. Some months ago, I mentioned that after successfully receiving multiple account bonuses, Sharebuilder became wiser and stopped me from opening more accounts with promo codes. So, before I jump in for any other product I need to do some homework….and check if I can use those promo codes in spite of my history with Sharebuilder.

If you have recently opened a Sharebuilder account with a promo code, I suggest you take it easy on these promo codes and offers for a while. Allow some space (may be a couple of weeks or more) before opening the next account with a promo code.

Got Free Money From Ebates

by golbguru on November 22, 2006

Man this Ebates thing is for real :). I had signed up for a Sharebuilder account about 3 months ago through Ebates and itimg049 had promised me $20 at the time. Honestly, I was not really expecting to see anything from Ebates…well just because I had never heard of the name before that. Yesterday, I was surprised to see a “Big Fat Check” from Ebates in the mail…..ok it wasn’t really big or fat or anything, but hey $20 is $20….even sweeter because I didn’t have to do anything for it :) and also got a $50 Sharebuilder bonus in the process.

Now, that I have “verified” that this stuff works, I don’t have any qualms about recommending it. In fact, you can get yourself a head start of $5 (and I will get a $5 bonus too) if you click on this referral link and sign up:

Update: There is a $10 referral bonus offer (you get $10 and I get $10) valid till March 15th, 2007:

This is the referral link for getting $10 bonus (till March 15th)

This is the regular referral link ($5 bonus) - does not expire.

For those who don’t know what Ebates.com is: It’s a program similar to something like Upromise.com, you buy stuff from major retailers by going through their website , and in return they give you some cashback, or bonus or discount coupons. Always read the fine print before signing up for anything. To make it a bit easier, I am copy-pasting an important excerpt from Ebates’ terms and conditions:

Every three months Ebates sends to its members the Cash Back that they have earned, provided that the member has earned at least $5.01 in Cash Back Rewards. If the member has earned less than $5.01 Cash Back, Ebates will carry the member’s money over to the next check.

Got Busted By Sharebuilder !! Free Money Days Are Over !!

by golbguru on October 24, 2006

Those happy days of free money from Sharebuilder promo codes are over for me. After opening three accounts in the last two months, my fourth account got busted by Sharebuilder. That also means no more Sharebuilder accounts for me in future.

Earlier, while opening the fourth account, Sharebuilder accepted the promo code and everything went smooth. I also set up an automatic investment plan and scheduled a trade for the following Tuesday. However, the trading Tuesday went by and a quick glance at my Sharebuilder summary in Yodlee told me that the trade was not placed. I logged in to check what was going on and saw this message:

sbuild2.0

Well that’s not the end of it. When I clicked on the “Click here” link in the above message, I was greeted by this:

sbuild1.0

Fortunately, all other accounts are in working order and I have already received a total of $150 for my three earlier accounts.

I have also confirmed that you cannot remove such a restriction from an account so that damn thing is going to stay there for ever…and remind me whenever I get tempted by another Sharebuilder code.

So to all the aspiring Sharebuilder bonus gatherers: beware ! Sharebuilder might be getting smarter :) If you already have more than one Sharebuilder account, I would suggest you wait a while before opening another account.

Got Free Money: Received Two Sharebuilder Bonuses !

by golbguru on October 7, 2006

Finally got my Sharebuilder bonuses for the first two accounts that I opened on August 24th, each worth $50. The whole transaction took about 6 weeks.

I had used these promo codes : HH50LOGIN and ENTERTAIN50

For more $50 promotion codes read this post and this post.

It should be noted here that opening two accounts at once (within 5 minutes of each other) did not cause any problems with respect to the bonus. However, be discreet on how you interpret this; don’t go overboard.

Currently I hold three Sharebuilder accounts and I am contemplating having a few more.

More Sharebuilder $50 Promo Codes

by golbguru on September 12, 2006

These are some more $50 promo codes for Sharebuilder. They seem like valid codes for now; I tried and Sharebuilder accepted them through the initial few steps on opening an account. However I stopped after a few steps… didn’t have the heart to open any new accounts…..already have 3 accounts opened with 3 other codes.

SMEAUG50

CAMPUS50

FOLLETT50

The earlier codes I used (successfully) are listed here.

Check out Fatwallet Forums for more Sharebuilder promo codes.

Yet Another Sharebuilder Promo Code and Account

by golbguru on September 7, 2006

Ok, so I am really stretching it now. This is my third Sharebuilder account using a promo code within a span of 15 days. Got this new promo code: SHAREBUILD50 from Blueprint for Financial Prosperity and immediately opened a new account.

I am wary of the fine print which says “Valid only for first time account holders with ShareBuilder.” However, multiple accounts have worked earlier, so hopefully Sharebuilder will accept this promo code too.

Btw, this promo code does not require enrollement in an Automatic Investment Plan (AIP) like the earlier ones. Even if you do enroll in the AIP, you don’t require a $50 minimum investment.

Keep checking Blueprint for Financial Prosperity for a listing of all old and new Sharebuilder promo codes and other interesting stuff.

Update- This is an excerpt of the email from Sharebuilder long after the account was opened:

sharebuilder3.1 dealsThis makes it sound like the AIP is necessary, but if you read the terms and conditions here, there is no mention of AIP anywhere. I think the same is true for the other codes I have used in the past.

Sharebuilder Promotion Qualification Email

by golbguru on September 6, 2006

Got this from Sharebuilder today:

sharebuilder2 free-money

and this:

sharebuilder free-money

So both codes worked well…sweet
Obviously, Sharebuilder doesn’t seem to mind me having two accounts. While it is busy ignoring multiple accounts with different promo codes, I am going to stretch it and open one more account with a good promo code…if I find one.

On the downside, as I write this, all my trades have lost some ground (down 70 cents in all).

Two New Sharebuilder Trades

by golbguru on September 4, 2006

Extending my learning into high-dividend stocks this week. Bought these:
1. Genco Shipping and Trading (GSTL)
2. Nordic American Tanker Shipping (NAT)
GSTL shows a dividend yield of 10.80%, while NAT shows a dividend yield of 11.80%. Sharebuilder analyst rating for NAT is 3.5 (sell), so I am probably going to loose money on that one. But since I am still playing with more of the free Sharebuilder bonus, I am going to take that chance. Plus, like most other PF bloggers, I am not going to sell this soon.
Any insight into this from the investing gurus?

Opened Sharebuilder Accounts

by golbguru on August 28, 2006

Opened two Sharebuilder accounts, each with a $50 bonus code. Here are the codes:

HH50LOGIN

ENTERTAIN50

Both codes were working when I used them on 24th August 2006.
Each code can be used only once.
Update: Forgot to mention this earlier. The bonus requires activation of the Automatic Investment Plan. You can activate the plan and select the “One-time” option.

Bought the following ETFs with the bonuses:

1. S&P 500 (Spiders), SPY
2. Vanguard Large-Cap, VV
