I was looking up some money videos on YouTube, and stumbled on this interesting one…
[If the video does not work in your browser, click on this link to watch it.]
…and got myself busy looking for stats on people who pick up money found on the streets. Here are some facts, from an USATODAY article, about people who pick up pennies on the street:

If 76% folks will pick up a penny, may be 100% will try to pick up a dollar bill?…or may be not. I think there are high chances that the percentage will not change much with increasing amount (it’s a pity the video does not show cases where people see the bill and yet don’t attempt to pick it up).
It would be very interesting to know what the remaining 24% percent of people think about the pennies (USATODAY mentions 23%, so may be there are 1% people who are *undecided* or whatever). Not worth the bending effort? Or too shy to pick up a penny? Or leave it for someone who deserves it more? Or perhaps some other interesting reason?
If you (or some people you know) don’t pick up money on the street (or have some theory about it), we would like to hear from you.
Now let’s get back to the review. Here are links to some interesting posts published over the week. For a change, I am not including any description this time (”for a change” = out of sheer laziness).

Hey, thanks for the love. Much appreciated.
I like your blog; I’m adding it to my blogroll.
I don’t pick up pennies. In fact often I have left pennies (not on the ground but just stacked up somewhere)
If I saw a banknote though I’d pick it up. Probably a quarter too.
I’ve even picked up crap I thought was money!
Solid Sunday review Golb!
Btw, 1st stock contest is up man! Best of luck to your community!
This is very cruel. Note in the titles, “Suckers of Chicago”.
How about trying to do something useful in your life instead.
Moom & Dawn: I used to pick up everything earlier…but I don’t know what happened over time…I stopped doing that…and I have absolutely no reason to explain why I stopped. Anyways, the next time I see a penny I am going to pick it up.
Yan: Yeah the title is not in good taste. In fact there are other videos on YouTube on this subject and all of them imply something like “greedy people” and such.
But they are interesting experiments anyways. I hope the kids who conducted these experiments collected some valuable data…instead of just doing “kewl stuff”.
I was at a Coffee Bean last Sunday and there was two one dollar bills on the floor. I don’t know who dropped it.
It was funny because my friends and I all noticed it but felt too embarrassed to walk over and pick it up.
It’s funny how pride or other people’s perceptions can also affect the way we act.
