What is it with spam and Wordpress? It just keeps coming and coming….why so much spam-love for Wordpress? This certainly didn’t happen when I was with Blogger till a few months ago.
Yesterday, the number of spam comments on this blog passed the number of genuine comments and trackbacks, and this is how it looked:

Not good.

Probably because WordPress is such a popular platform, don’t you think? Kind of like Virus attacks on Windows vs. Mac OS vs. Linux?
Still, hooray for Akismet!
GeekTieGuy: yup Akismet is good…real good; it hasn’t let a single spam comment escape…there are false positives every now and then but its still good.
May be the spam is because of popularity. But , Blogger is no less popular if you come to think of it.

I’m also concerned about false negatives. I have Akismet too but yes I’ve been swamped lately. I now have almost 5,000 spams eaten by the plugin!
But I’ll be beefing up further though.
MillionDollarJourney: thanks for the links.
SVB: Yeah..it’s pouring spam in the last few days. Btw, 5000 spams ! ..you are one experienced player
I hate spam - many times I’m tempted to just click delete all. But I still check Akismet just in case some legit comments slipped through.

Many accounts are being made daily that are used solely for sending spam messages like this or similar advertising more rubbish that no ones actually intrested in. Why does’nt YouTube just delete these accounts as the spam these people are sending kepps on coming and people are getting annoyed with it
