I So Hate HTML And CSS And Internet Explorer

by golbguru on January 24, 2007

Finally, things are taking shape with this new theme. Thanks to Dimes, Sun, HC, Kirby, Maria, and Ispf for giving some timely input.

Now time for some wrath.

Why the heck can’t IE do what other browsers do? It did crap to my blogger template, then to my Giraffe theme and now if Ispf hadn’t mentioned some weird stuff (misplaced right side bar and missing “submit” button for the comments”) with IE6 there would have been some more crap with this theme. Browsers should have some kind of a common code….it sucks to keep modifying your template to optimize for every other browser.

I may have never mentioned this, but I don’t like HTML/CSS…sometimes, it causes a lot of pain and suffering to ignorant idiots like me.

In other news, till now, there are about 34 entries for the next edition of the Festival of Under 30 Finances to be hosted on this on blog the 26th January (Friday). Looks like some busy time ahead reading and sorting stuff. If you are interested in participating, submit your articles asap.

IE is crap. And html is tedious but I learned some of it by fixing it, and there’s also a link to an html guide far down on the left side of my page, I think, just in case I feel energetic enough to play with my layout.
I’m bowing out of this festival, because tax time has been eating all my free time this week.

It looks great now! I recently stumbled upon the website http://browsershots.org/ for checking the appearance of a website on different browsers. Its a little slow but quite helpful. check it out.

Yes, I agree. IE is pretty lacking in many ways. Have you tried Firefox? :-)

dimes: thanks for the hmtl guide link.

ispf: that browsershots.org is incredible !!:), thanks.

Lem: Yeah…I designed it on Firefox browser first..and thought everything was ok…till IE 6 crapped out. Then I figured it might be better to design it for IE 6 first :). Firefox is good it can digest anything.

There is a set of suggested standards that internet browsers are supposed to follow. Nothing is written in stone, though, and Microsoft owns such a large percentage of the market that sometimes I think they want everything to bend to their non-comformist bad-coding ways!

I like the new look! I agree, trying to get everything just right across different browsers is a pain in the neck.

ispf, thanks for the heads up on BrowserShots, I’ll have to check it out.
