Check Out This Cool New Stuff On This Blog

by golbguru on January 19, 2007

I love discovering new things while messing with this blog. I think that’s one of the main reasons that drove me away from Blogger…after a while there was nothing to mess around with. :)

So here is something I added to this blog last night; a page titled “Hot Stuff From Top Blogs“. You can locate it on the navigation bar just below the title. Click it. Click it. :)

It’s like my own customized “pfblogs.org” niche. Kewl. Right now it’s experimental, so I have not added all the blogs I read regularly (which is almost all blogs in my blogroll btw).

This in no way replaces my compulsive “need” to visit pfblogs.org every few hours or the functionality of pfblogs.org, but it does a good job of quickly taking me through the blogs I want to read the most.

For interested Wordpress users, I am using this plugin: BDP RSS Aggregator

Aaaaaarghhhhh!!!!! Will you wordpress users stop showing off all these “kewl” plugins, already ?!! Cant wait to switch over to my own domain, wordpress, dreamhost etc. On principle though, I have decided to wait until my site can support itself. It’s a harsh (PF blogger) world out there for someone who likes instant gratification :)

ispf: “I have decided to wait until my site can support itself”…man you are a tough guy. :) I had a thought of doing that, but later decided against waiting for that long. The more you get established on the old blog, the bigger your problems will be when moving to Wordpress :)…or at least thats what I realized after some time.

Look out for Flexo’s blog (Consumerism Commentary)..occasionally he runs “free hosting” offers for new blogs that want to transfer from Blogger to own hosting.

If you miss that bus, I can refer you to Dreamhost (in the greed of earning some $$ (drool) :) ). If you dislike Dreamhost, there are a lot of other personal finance bloggers who would be happy to refer you to other hosting services.

Thanks, golbguru. I realise I am probably stuck with blogger for eternity if I dont move before I am established. My fervent hope is that competition and the mass exodus of good bloggers will eventually make google/blogger try to match up to wordpress :) In the seemingly unlikely event that my site can support itself sooner and I decide to go for dreamhost, I will definitely take you up on the offer for the referral.

That seems to be a very good tool. Will check it out. Thanks Golbguru :D.
