5 Deep Dark Secrets About Me You Will Never Hear Again

by golbguru on December 12, 2006

I am new to this whole “tagging” game. So, it took me a little time to get in the “zone” :) after Sun of The Sun’s Financial Diary tagged me a few days ago. Some of the stuff below was done when I was young and foolish, so don’t try this at your home :).

1. When I was in 7th grade, I broke a mercury thermometer and collected the mercury to see what happens when it is heated up. After nothing happened when I heated the thing on a stove at home, I put in a small piece of soldering wire and the mixutre solidified into a small pellet after cooling. I proudly carried the pellet in my pocket till my parents discovered the facts behind it and grounded me. I am glad I am alive. A year later, I caused a short-circuit in our apartment complex during an (unsuccessful) attempt to make an electromagnet out of a spoon.

2. The last book that I read from first page to last page had this title “Fundamentals of Metal Fatigue Analysis”. :) I find money books extremely boring (Kiyosaki or not)…money blogs are 100 times better.

3. I totally love New York City, though I live about 1500 miles from there.

4. I can spend a whole week inside this building all alone (hopefully some of you can guess this place):

5. I stay active with this sport :):

Thanks for the tag. I’ll get my post and tags out this weekend. Hmmm… what to reveal :-)

Ditto on NYC. I’ve only been there once but what an amazing place to visit. The money capital of the world :)

I’ll pass on the tag since ppl can read 100 Things About Me on by blog.

However, I grew up where #4 is located. Hard to forget the view when you’re huffing and puffing up the stairs. (Rocky had good editing because it was a movie. It’s quite a climb. Stupid tourists don’t get it. Don’t run. Walk.)

Despite the number of times I’ve been in Philly, I still haven’t visited #4.

Also, your electromagnet was too big. [grin]

Thanks for the tag. I should be able to release my things tomorrow.

I don’t know if I mentioned it, but I love the new design. It’s very crisp and clean.

As unhealthy as it is, I loved reading about #1 above. And I pretty much agree with #2. I just bought Felix Dennis’s How To Get Rich, though, and am hoping it will be an entertaining read.

The first item is very interesting. Does it have anything to do with you getting into the PhD program? Somehow I saw connections.

Super saver: we are waiting :)
moneysmartlife: NYC is no doubt “the money place”…but more than that …it really defines “life”..or so I felt.

mapgirl: sorry I didn’t read the 100 things before. yeah the view from the Rocky spot is awesome. The whole place is awesome.

HC: visit the art museum next time you are there. Go on a Sunday if you wish because admission is free on Sundays.

Lazy man and money: thanks much. this giraffe theme is really responsive.

ricemutt: it’s all the joy of discovery. Somehow money books lack a whole lot of it….or I am being too demanding of money books.

Sun: Partly yes…but the PhD is not really giving me “the joy of discovery” that I was looking forward to. :) Some people can “talk” to differential equations and enjoy it…I am not one of those guys.
