I am not very pro-black-friday when it comes to electronic stuff, because I have seen better deals on a lot of stuff on non-black-friday days. But, this thing really got my attention. I stumbled on this piece on Electronista.com and just couldn’t believe my eyes. Here is a screenshot:
If you are looking for a laptop, then there is nothing like that, if it exists. There must be a catch though which is not made very clear in the advertisement. Hopefully people will read it before they spend the money. I think it has got to do something with the 12-month Vonage subscription..that costs about $180+taxes, so it might get a bit expensive-er than $99. In that case, you might want to check Bestbuy.com for a $249 deal for a Toshiba notebook with approximately same configuration.

Not even this post caused me to go shopping today:-)
I talked to some people who did shop today. It was a 2 1/2 wait in the check out line. Since they went as a group, they immediately got in line and did tag team shopping. Pretty clever.
So are the the owner of a new $99 laptop ?
Super Saver: No :), I didn’t get out either. The laptop is cheap but right now I don’t need one. Also, I heard from a few friends that some coupons/vouchers were given out for those who waited in line…and some people waited for the laptop since Wednesday night!…I am not that hell-bent on buying anything.
But I did take some pictures outside Best Buy last night for fun. I will post them soon.
The biggest catch is 99.99% of those who show up on Friday will find the deal out of stock
Yan: yeah…I agree :). I haven’t heard a single person in this town who got his/her hands on the deal (I know quite a few who were in the Best Buy and Circuit City lines since about 12:00 midnight and got diddly squad), sometimes I wonder if these things even exit.
ya… i went black friday shopping… and i would have been fine too… if it wasn’t for a misscommunication with my mom about how much she would be repaying me for some things i bought for her (to buy me for christmas)…
(my mom price matches and she got my sis a laptop so i was really behind….)
meh… what’s done is done…
my sis didn’t get her deal at Best Buy…
but i did get all the “doorbusters” i went for. at every place too… (i guess i’m better at it then her)
for 99 it cant be so bad, we have Asda stores in the UK (part of wallmart ) but I havent seen any cheap lappys there yet
