I Don’t Like Wordpress Image Management So Far

by golbguru on November 19, 2006

I am trying to update a few images in some of my previous posts and it’s becoming complicated. In blogger, I just had to select the image from a browser and choose small/medium/large thumbnail and that would be it ! :) Now here, there is no such option of small/medium/large thumbnail…all images default to to a tiny 128×96 size ! …or you can choose them to be displayed as original size. Now, I don’t want either of those…I want something that will auto-resize to some reasonable size on my post. I have tried a few plugins, but none of them are giving me what I want. One of them (ImageManager) was better and allows me to increase the size of my thumbnails, but does that by compromising on the resolution! Recommendations anyone, on a easy-to-use image manager?

The site looks good!

Unfortunately I can’t recommend a good image manager but I’m sure there is one.

I use WYSI-Wordpress plugin to replace the default Wordpress editor. It has another option to link an image from other site to my blog via a url link and I can choose to resize the image by giving it the size I want and the place I want to put the image. For this, you do have to upload to image to a photo host site like Flickr. Not really very convenient, but works for me.

Robert: yeah I will be on a look out for one and let you if I find a good one.

Sun: I am playing with a few WYSIWYG editors one at a time, will have something to say about it soon.

Thanks guys for following up on this so quickly.

There is no automatic plug-in to resize your pictures like Blogger.

But you can get an picture editor that its sole purpose is to resize your pix.

Online - flickr.com has a tool that lets you chose 4 or 5 different image sizes. It comes with a handy image imbed code so that you dont have to figure out how to place it as is on your post. It is compatible with WordPress.

Offline - pixresizer. You can resize your pictures to any size you want. What’s really good about this is that you can resize pictures in bulk and saves it to a special folder. Just do a Google search on pixresizer and I’m sure you’ll find it. It’s a freeware.

These two are probably the best ones I’ve used.

Hi
I came across searching for the better image management plugin for WordPress… which still alludes me.

I have found this ImageManager:

It seems pretty cool but by no means the simple Blogger way of managing images.

Have you found anything?
