Deep Thought: Pressing The Elevator Button 50 Times Doesn’t Make It Travel Faster

by golbguru on November 11, 2006

elevator deep-thoughtsI have been in a contemplative mood all day…and hence the post.

Some of you may have observed a scene similar to this. A person comes running from somewhere and appears to be in the utmost hurry. He will press on one of those the elevator buttons with up/down arrows on them. Within the next 5 seconds, he will press on the button again..and then again..and then again….as if the elevator is intelligent enough to understand his urgency.

Don’t we all act that way sometimes?..may be not with respect to elevators, but with other situations in life.

Ironically enough, once you are actually in the elevator, you can often get to your floor faster by holding the “door close” button and/or repeatedly hit the button of the floor that you are going to. It is an express feature that is built into many elevators. It will bypass the other floors that are waiting for the elevator.

I am one of those elevator button pushers. And thanks to jagular, I’m now going to drive everyone else nuts inside the elevator, not just outside :)
Love the RSS button…..

Guilty as charged. I tend to push the button as if the elevator will come faster.

In other areas of my life I tend to think my urgency will translate into things moving faster.

Sometimes there’s just so many options with keeping a track of sites nowadays. I watch your site on my Google reader so I dont subscribe to the feed. That’s probably why the move to Wordpress didnt show up on my reader because it was tracking the blogspot site.

Like the new feed buttons….
