With this post, I intend to run a series of polls with a variety of questions regarding honesty with respect to money. Below is poll #1 in this series.
The reason for this particular topic is because we humans have a tendency to bend our ways around a number of issues when it comes to money. I am just curious to see how “popular” this tendency is.
Feel free to explain how/when you did it and what were the consequences. If you are single, click on “not applicable” and leave a comment if you lied to someone else. So go on, click your votes:

my answer is yes. may be two odd times but something people called white lies.
surely you dont expect me writing this comment with my blogger login
I put down yes because I refused to tell my boyfriend how much I spent on his birthday present last year (a GPS navigator for the car.) He would actually be angry if he knew how much it ocst ($700) so I have never told him, though he has asked several times. That little device has prevented a lot of car fights though since I can’t give directions to save my life.
I find that usually though when I don’t want to tell my boyfriend how much I spent on something, it’s because I shouldn’t have bought it at all. He has a lot more willpower and lives more simply than I do, so I sometimes feel like I don’t measure up to his frugality.
Anon: many people may be in the same boat as you are.
Kira: I appreciate you taking time out for this poll and your honest reply. Don’t worry about measuring upto to anyone’s frugality. We all have different yardsticks about what is frugal and what is not. If it helps, look at it this way: you invested $700 to prevent car fights, I think that is a very good investment cause in a serious relationship.
Do you think you could have convinced him into making peace with it had you told him the truth?
