When Is $13.50 Worth More Than $13.50 ?

by golbguru on October 8, 2006

Answer: When you watch the movie “The Departed” :)

We spent $4.75 apiece (cheap tickets courtesy: graduate student status and a valid university ID card) for two movie tickets and $4 (rip-off) for popcorn.

The movie is directed by Martin Scorsese but can easily pass as a Quentin Tarantino product.

There were at least two distinct events in the movie that made the value of our $13.50 seemed much more than $13.50. :)

Recommendation: Watch it !

$4 for popcorn? Damn. When I was an avid moviegoer I brought a gallon of water and 3 pounds of jerky with me every time in my pant legs.

I’m not sure if you will enjoy it just as much … but if you’d like to see the original film that inspired the Scorcese remake.. look go for “Infernal Affairs” at your local rental store. It’s a Hong Kong blockbuster that spawned a trilogy of movies. “The Departed” is definitely the remake of this film, and it was only a few years ago. Just think… what would inspire Scorcese to so quickly adapt this script for hollywood?

Let me know when you’ve seen it. =)

Holy crap, your student ticket prices are great! Even super discounted tickets through the university are still about 6 bucks.

MsMiniducky: It’s getting even better here…we watched Borat for $4 each tax :)
