Free Money: Blue From American Express Card, 15 Month 0% APR Offer

by golbguru on October 6, 2006

Another chance for earning free money with this credit card: Blue from American Express.
There is no balance transfer fee.
Here is what it says in the fine print:
“There is no balance transfer transaction fee associated with this offer. However, future balance transfers may incur a fee as disclosed at the time of the applicable offer or transaction”Other highlights are no annual fees and the 0% balance transfer is valid for 15 months (!) instead of the usual 12 months.

The APR is declared to be between 12.24% and 19.24%, depending on your credit history.

One keeps getting offeres from one bank or another. Seems they are desperate to make money.

i got a PNC bank VISA card just fortnight ago at 0% APR for 12 months (unlike 15, unlucky me) with the same ‘no balance xfer fee’ additive. They have given me the credit limit way beyond my monthly spendings (which has both pros n cons).

I wd always prefer a VISA over amex.

Now, lemme put some retro comments
1. categories - i have hardly seen anyone using the lowly blogger search for anything worthwhile.
I wud anytime vote for technocrati tags. As u know, they require absolutely no template changes n no credits. And you’d notice they’d definitely improve ur page-hits (ur site meter can tell u from where ur readers came).

2. Adsense - I m a big time hater of adsense. I’d thought of putting it up on my blog many times n everytime it lost the battle.
Good luck with these.

3. 3-bar template : More than anything else, it confuses the readers on what lies where.
The good thing is they may inadvertently click the adsense links (in this bewilderment), so you might be lucky with these.

That apart, i believe in keeping things simple n more legible. Too much of info n too many links on a single webpage, is sure to confuse readers (IMO that is).

Considering urs is more content oriented blog and a good one at that(n not those teenager’s blogs which have thousand jazzy add-ons n flying butterflies n video codecs n MP3 juke boxes n flickr zeitgists n wot not !!), too many links would mess things up (again, IMO).

Have a good weekend !

Hiren: Of course all banks are there for the sole purpose of making money :)
Invincible: Thanks for the detailed comments. Here are some reasons behind the current layout:
- Technorati doesn’t allow me to claim my blog :(, also it flatly says “blog not found” when I search for golbguru.blogspot.com. So Technorati tags are out time being and hence my need to find other tags.
- AdSense is my trial project and it is certainly not making any progress. I think in the recent future I might fire AdSense in favor of reader comfort.
-Your opinions on 3-column layout and too many links are valuable and I will be reconsidering some stuff along those lines after following my sitemeter for a few weeks.
Thanks

Golb –

Just to confuse you, I prefer the three bar format. :)

And don’t you think Chase Signature is much better than AmEx Blue? Comparing the two fine prints, I think the first is less trappy than the second. I chose Chase after 6 months of holding AmEx and still have no regrets)
