MSN: 10 Cheapest and Costliest Cars to Insure

by golbguru on September 15, 2006

Link to the article on MSN Moneycentral is here.

It is duly noted that the popular workhorses: Toyotas and Hondas are not among the cheapest list….may be they get stolen more often?

By the way, I always wonder, what is the top priority for people when they look for a new car? Is it safety? or price? insurance cost? repair cost? or is it just some kind of a “liking-factor”?

Right now I’m looking for the “not breaking down on the side of the road factor” - I guess you’d call that long-term dependability. =)

For me, the answer depended on my stage of life. It evolved from practicality, to new, to sport, to luxury and back to practicality. Safety was always a factor in all purchases. Enjoyment was also a factor.

My first car, when I graduated, was the 13 year old family car(practical). I then bought a new sport sedan, a used sport convertible, a used luxury car and now a truck (new but practical again:-). I have enjoyed every vehicle and would purchase all of them again.

kira: hope you have made some progress in your car hunt by now. I am pretty sure you will zero-in on a honda from what you are saying.

super saver: forgive me for being jealous…till date, i havent even stepped in some of the types you have mentioned :)..owning them all at some point of time seems like a distant dream for me right now.
