Playing With Google AdSense

by golbguru on August 29, 2006

Very few people have ever read this blog. Of those, very few will ever return. This entry is for those very few returning loyals. You will notice a few changes with the layout. I just registered for Google AdSense and posted a few of their not-so-loveable advertisement blocks all over my blog. Let me know if they irritate you. I have absolutely no hopes of earning a dime with these advertisements, and right now they are there only for the sake of my learning about AdSense. If anyone has any experience with AdSense, I would love to hear from you.

Oh, I have experience with Adsense, as do most of my “been around for a while” PFbloggers.

The first thing to do: Blend the ads to match your site’s colors, background, and text. That means get rid of the borders, too.

It works.

I have had bad luck with Google canceling my account whenever I get a few too many clicks than they think are appropriate. I have tried to reassure them that they are not fraudulent clicks but that I just have high traffic and good content. They didn’t budge. So now I’m using banner ads from Commission Junction.

Adsense is all about experimenting. Every now and then the strangest combination of colours, position and formats would work wonders.

I have Adsense ads on my blog. I’ve earned a whole penny! Maybe that’s because I have no traffic… But stick with them. These days if you don’t have Adsense I don’t think people take your site seriously.
